You’ve all probably now seen that the lovely Storm Darragh is on its way to us this weekend, so we’ve spent the best part of today chucking most of our plans for Llanelli Christmas Parade out the window.
But don’t worry, Llanelli – after running events in all sorts of weather for eight years, we’ve become quite good at coming up with an alternative! All the new info you need for Saturday is right here 👇
🚶➡️❌ The outdoor parade will no longer take place – we don’t want Santa to go all Mary Poppins on us! Instead, we’ll have a short indoor parade at 12pm through Llanelli Indoor Market and into the St Elli Shopping Centre Llanelli, where our characters will stick around until 3pm.
🍫🎁 There will now be a small number of stallholders inside the St Elli Shopping Centre Llanelli outside Craftastic and in the old Candles & Co unit, so you can still pick up a few Christmas presents (for friends and family or for yourself!)
There’s plenty still going ahead as planned though, including…
👸🎶 Providing a healthy dose of festive cheer on our stage in St Elli Shopping Centre Llanelli, we have:
12:30pm: Princess songs from Glass Slipper Events
1pm: The Thrillionaires
1:45pm: Frozen songs from @PS. .Parties
2:15pm: The Thrillionaires
🍪🍬 A Taste of Times Past will be stationed by the market precincts with a load of Christmas food crafts! Drop by between 10am and 3pm to make your own Christmas cookies, cake toppers, tree decorations, hot chocolate, or even a festive pickle!
🎨✨ Who doesn’t love a bit of glitter at Christmas? Pop into Llanelli Indoor Market for glitter tattoos with Raspberry Creatives CIC, as well as arts, crafts, and the ever-popular tin can alley!
💂🥁 Get started with the Llanelli Christmas Nutcracker Trail as it launches on Saturday! Pick up a map from the St Elli Shopping Centre tree and crack on for your chance to win our grand prize 🌟
🎭🛍️ For more Christmas shopping, head to the 100% Sir Gar Pop-ups and to Ffwrnes Theatre for their Christmas Fair! Featuring stalls from local crafts people and small business owners, there’ll be something for everyone.
🎸🤩 Also in the Ffwrnes Theatre, Music Factory Wales are offering free music workshops from 10am to 12pm, with loads of different instruments available to try!
All in all, we still have plenty going on for anyone that still wants to attend! We’re absolutely gutted that we’ve had to turn the event on its head, but unfortunately the weather has forced our hand. It’s been a difficult decision to make today, but we didn’t want to cancel such a special event outright. We hope you all understand, and that anyone who comes along still enjoys.
Please do be mindful of the warnings in place if you’re travelling to the event, whether you’re coming from the North Pole or just from Bigyn! We want everyone to stay safe, so please plan accordingly and don't take any risks.
Thank you all for understanding, and we hope to see some of you on Saturday ❤️
