This year’s Great Llanelli Get Together was due to take place on Saturday, 20th June. Those of you who took part last year will remember what a wonderful day it was and how it really brought the community together, all in memory of the late MP Jo Cox, who was killed in 2016. Sadly, this year we will be unable to come together in person.
However, we’ve been thinking about how we can mark the occasion as the Great Get Together is all about celebrating community, the one thing that has shone through during the current crisis. As we’re unable to share food in person like we did last year, we thought we could share recipes instead!
We're planning a Llanelli Food Love Stories cookbook – a collection of recipes from our community that has sustained us through the crisis, and a reminder of this strange time in all our lives.
We’ll be including favourites from all our Ymlaen Llanelli town centre businesses (who knows, maybe we can convince Jenkins to share their corned beef pasty recipe with us?), and we also want to hear from you, our community. Community spirit is what makes our town special and we want to keep celebrating it.
The recipes we collect will be bound together in a book that will be available from town centre businesses as they safely reopen.
Please send us your recipe with a couple of sentences about why it’s special to you, along with your name and the area of Llanelli in which you live and we’ll be delighted to include it. Help us make this happen and get your hands on some lovely local recipes while you’re at it!
