Llanelli’s annual Christmas celebrations are well and truly under way as another one of our much-loved event makes its return next weekend!
Llanelli Reindeer Parade takes place on Saturday 4th December and sees Santa and his parade of reindeer, princesses, superheroes, bands and more joining in the festive fun in the event organised by Ymlaen Llanelli.
The parade begins from outside Ffwrnes Theatre at 12pm, proceeding along Park Street, Bridge Street, Vaughan Street and Stepney Street, before culminating in Spring Gardens. (Map below!)
Characters in the parade include the likes of Anna and Elsa, Spider-Man, and the Grinch, amongst many more, all of who will be staying around after the parade to meet and greet everyone.
There will also be market stalls and a stage in Stepney Square with live music beginning at 10am until 3pm – with a break for the parade itself – including performances from local choirs and singers. The event is free to attend, and there will be free parking in all council-run town centre car parks.
Chair of the BID, Lesley Richards, is keen to welcome Christmas back to the town centre: “We’re thrilled to be holding Llanelli Reindeer Parade again this year – it’s a staple in our programme and we sorely missed it last year. The parade brings the community together and really gets everyone into the festive feeling, and the kids love seeing all our characters from past events. It’s the perfect event to finish off the year, and we can’t wait!”
And don't forget, the parade isn’t the only thing on the our festive calendar this year - our Christmas Gingerbread Trail is on now!
The Christmas Gingerbread Trail features ten gingerbread statues hidden around the town centre; pick up a map from St Elli Shopping Centre and fill in all the rogue gingerbread’s names, and take your completed map to the Works on Stepney Street for a special prize! The trail finishes on 31st December and one lucky winner will be drawn from all the entries to receive a £250 voucher for On Your Bike.
There will also be free parking every Saturday in all council-run town centre car parks before Christmas to get your Christmas shopping done, and Sky subscribers should keep an eye out for a special Christmas in Llanelli advert on their screens!
