The parade featured a host of familiar characters from princesses to superheroes, community groups and bands, and even Santa Claus himself!
There was a crisp chill in the air as Cor Curiad took to the stage to begin the festivities, followed up by The Voices choir, who kept up the Christmas atmosphere as people browsed the multitude of treats on offer at the market.
The parade began at 12pm from the Ffwrnes Theatre, led by town crier Eldon Phillips and the Royal British Legion Band. The procession wound its way along Market Street, Bridge Street, Vaughan Street and Stepney Street before culminating in Spring Gardens, where people had the chance to meet the Cairngorm Reindeer.
The tunes returned to the stage after the parade with The Thrillionaires getting the crowds grooving, while Llinos Watkins rounded off the lineup for the day. There was also traditional sweet-making workshops in St Elli Shopping Centre, with lots of people getting stuck in.
Chair of Ymlaen Llanelli, Lesley Richards, is proud of the event turnout: “So many people came out to enjoy the parade, and it was just brilliant to see so many happy people in Llanelli town centre. We’re incredibly lucky to have such an amazing community supporting us, our events just wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you from everyone at Ymlaen Llanelli, and we’ll see you in 2022 for even more events!”
